DESCRIPTION:

Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a General Worker, based in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to assist with Packing of different varieties and seed lots, according to company Standard Operating Procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 (essential)
• Previous general worker experience (advantageous)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive seed lots for Packing, and confirm the type of Packing is correct.
• Check/verify quantities, kinds, varieties, and lot numbers of seed received for Packing against the information supplied on the relevant job card.
• Accurately weigh/check weigh containers according to prescribed procedures after application.
• Close and label containers/ bags of processed / Packing seed according to prescribed procedures.
• Stack/pack containers/ bags with processed / Packed seed according to prescribed procedures.
• Assist with sealing (when applicable) of processed / Packing seed according to prescribed procedures
• Operate the treatment equipment after appropriate settings have been finaliSed by Supervisor.
• Clean the relevant equipment before and after use
• Maintain high levels of hygiene surrounding the work area
• Presenting of job card to the Supervisor for approval & sign-off, before forwarded to the next step in the process
• Follows all work instructions, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• Follows Standard Operating Procedures for all operations.
• Undertakes all other reasonable tasks allocated by Supervisor and/or superiors as and when requested.
