JOB PURPOSE

To sort, distribute, receive and process samples, operate the automate, resolve queries and perform administrative tasks as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (Required), HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 1 – 2 years relevant laboratory experience, 2-3 Years general experience in a medical environment, Knowledge:
  • Google and Google Mail, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Human Tissue Act, Knowledge: Medical Terminology, Knowledge: Meditech system
  • MS Word and MS Excel

KNOWLEDGE

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)
  • Knowledge of Ampath Safety
  • Health and Environment management policy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • File and discard specimens in order to ensure sufficient storage and discarding of specimens. (, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.,
  • Manually process and prepare specimens in order to ensure effective processing and delivery of specimens to Westridge Autolab clinical departments and / or to Ampath and / or non-Ampath referral laboratories.,
  • Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory and that relevant safety & accreditation standards are met, and to ensure effective recording and access to information and availability of relevant updated information to internal clients.,
  • Perform Automate functions in order to ensure continuous workflow and optimal functioning of the Automate at all times., Perform general laboratory tasks within scope of practice in order to ensure effective functioning of the laboratory including maintenance and quality control on instruments., Perform helpdesk functions in order to ensure all queries, add-ons, outstandings and problem specimens and queries are handled timeously in order to ensure effective delivery of service and to ensure client satisfaction, Perform safety related tasks in order to ensure that safety standards are upheld within the laboratory.
